But she could never, ever buy enough iceberg lettuce to keep up with the salad dressing. Normally a bit disheveled in regards to his personal dress and belongings, Dad morphed into a Type A around coupons. He organized them by category and date in a cadre of coupon caddies he carried with him all the time, and he would curse fiercely if he neglected to take advantage of a particularly good deal before it expired.
Luckily, the only casualty was a few coupons, which fell into the black hole of the under seat, never to be seen again. With the right coupons, Dad could overcome modesty and embarrassment with penny-pinching pride as he stood in the checkout line with tampons and Midol for his three teenage daughters. When my sisters and I left for college, Dad clipped and mailed, and would try luring us home with the promise that he'd have bags of goodies — stolen, of course — for us to take back.

Even when Dad was sick with lung cancer, his enthusiasm for coupons never waned. I know you like that coffee," he'd say, even though it must have pained him to not be able to buy the stuff himself at the store. Dad loved going to the supermarket to "make a killing. When Dad finally died, we put his coupon caddy in the casket with him, along with his other prized possessions: a transistor radio he listened to every morning and the TV remote, or as he called it, The Clicker.
For the most part, Dad's coupon gene has bypassed me. But occasionally I find myself at the dining room table with coffee and scissors, clipping coupons for cooking oil, cat litter, laundry detergent and yes, salad dressing. The cat litter, oil and detergent will go to good use. The salad dressing, probably not.
And now someone will stop at nothing to possess it—even if it means destroying everything Melanie and Jack hold dear. Read more Read less.

We have the same family dynamics as before, Melanie is very controlling and the rest of the family is learning to live with it. There are a lot of historical references that are interesting.
The book is very similar to the others in the series except for the end. As I understand, there will be one more book in the series so hopefully Ms. White will end on a happy note. I think if it would have ended differently I would have given it 5 stars. I have tried to read this book, I am having so much trouble with this sixth book. In the past I have had this series read in two days, and was sorry to see the end of the book.

This one has been difficult for me. Melanie seems to have regressed, she feels that hiding these spirits is beneficial to protecting everyone in her family. The past books she has been willing to work with her mother, even her cousin to overcome a haunting. Why the change? Her relationship with Jayne is strange, she allows her manage her children without much input from Melanie herself.

She does not deal with her jealousy about the relationship between Jayne and her father. So much is hidden in this book. As a result it just drags on and on without any reason given for her actions.
I love the series, and hope the final installment will be better than this one. It appears, that Karen White may be allowing others to write this series now. A frequent occurrence when authors have more than one series of books they write. I hope the next book will be more in line with her previous installments. If you enjoy suspense with the paranormal this is the series for you. You must read in order. The stories throughout this series are at times heartwarming and heartwrenching. The main and secondary characters relationships are wonderfully intertwined.
I am hoping the sales are so good that Ms. White changes her mind about only one more book in this series. Well written books that have thought provoking stories are few and far between. Well worth the purchase. Really tired of the constant critique and criticism of Melanie.
I will Read the next and last book. But I am ready for her to stand up for herself. Her mother deserted her, her father and husband are alcoholics, and they tell her she is the problem.
